Veronica Veronica Swift is one of the great jazz singers of her generation — but she’s much more than that.
Her new project, Dame, is a full-on rock band, and she describes the music as “trans-genre.”
I first saw Veronica perform in 2019, when she was still deep in the jazz world. Since then, I’ve been documenting her evolution — from jazz stages to the bold, theatrical direction her music has taken — watching her stretch what it means to be a performer, songwriter, and interpreter.
It’s been an honor to have her trust as I’ve photographed her on and off stage, in different contexts and collaborations. These images are what I hope will become part of a long-term collaboration as her sound and vision continue to evolve.
